Industry and Academia have always been on the loggerheads with the kind of curriculum
that has been taught to students versus the actual requirement when one passes out of the
academic institutions. Sensing this as a challenge, one of the leading universities of the country
Ansal University comes together with the leader in cyber security services in India, Lucideus.
Jointly they have produced a curriculum that potentially answers the industry requirements that
students need to be groomed and trained in order to kick-start their career in the domain of
cyber security.
Ansal University launched a four year Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science
Engineering (Cyber Security) in collaboration with Cybersecurity Service Provider
Lucideus as Knowledge Partner on 7 February 2018.
Saket Modi, Co founder and CEO of Lucideus said, “This is the ideal time when we partner
with an academic institution to go ahead and launch a course in cyber security because it is
something that is answering the need of both - the present and the future. Not only that, we
today sense while serving a lot of very large Indian companies that the demand and supply are
absolutely disconnected.”

Sheetal Ansal, Executive Trustee of Ansal University while inaugurating the event said,
“Cybersecurity market is expected to grow from $75 billion in 2015 to $170 billion by 2020.
Ansal University aims at training young minds to get a deep knowledge of the changing needs
and demands of the IT industry.”
According to the latest report by Intel Security in partnership with the CSIS, the global
cyber-security workforce will have over 1 million job vacancies by 2019.
“The Indian cyber security policy of 2013 states India requires 500,000 cyber security
professionals. Today thanks to the digital India initiatives by the government and the private
setups both who are pushing towards a digital economy, digital future, the requirement of cyber
security professionals has exponentially gone up while the supply has not seen a major
overhaul. The result is a big gap between the demand and the supply,” Modi added.
Cyber Security is a branch where digital data and integrity of computing assets are protected. It
is formulated to make networks, programs and save data from attacks, damages or
unauthorized access. Zero-day attacks, ransomware, attacks to critical infrastructure, malwares,
wireless attacks, web and mobile application attacks are just some examples of the common
threats a country’s digital ecosystem faces.
Madan Oberoi, Special CP, Special cell and Technology Cell of Delhi Police while
launching the course at the university said, “Need of the hour is capacity building and
strengthening. There is a skill gap in law enforcement and we need more cyber security experts.
This initiative by Lucideus and Ansal university will help in bridging this gap. Delhi Police today
can potentially absorb any number of students coming out of such a course due to the massive
demand not only for solving cyber crime cases but almost any kind of case today, as all of them
have a cyber dimension to it.”
Some of the key features of the course include six international certifications in four years,
internship opportunities in Silicon Valley, 100 percent 4 year scholarship for 6 students of the
batch and there will be a dedicated workstation for each student. Majority of the trainers would
be Information security Industry experts.
Addressing the audience at the launch, Pavan Duggal, Chairman International commission
on Cyber Law said, “Prime minister’s Digital India initiative will need lakhs of trained cyber
security professionals. This course will help in providing this talent. At the end of four years
students will be a condition where they can work in a number of fields in cyber security. While
there are tremendous opportunities, there are challenges such as Darknet. This course will build
multi-skilled operational professionals as it will focus on practical knowledge and International
exposure.”
A Student should have passed 10+2 examination (Pre-University Board Examination) with
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science as their main subjects and it is
recognized by any State Board / Central Board. A minimum aggregate of 60% marks is required
said Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kamlesh Misra.
Increase in Cybersecurity crimes on both individuals and businesses accentuate the need for IT
security professionals. BTech in Cyber Security will prepare students for an exciting career in
the domain. Some of the career options that will open up for students are - Chief Information
Security Officer, Cyber Intelligence Analyst, Cyber Risk Analyst, Cyber Security Expert and
many more.
